What personal data do I collect and why do I collect it?
I collect names and email addresses for the purpose of email marketing. If you decide to subscribe to my blog, I’ll store that information with my email marketing platform – Mailerlite.
By default, WordPress doesn’t collect any personal data. It only collects data shown on the User Profile screen from registered users.
After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
I keep contact form submissions for a certain period for customer service purposes, but I don’t use that information for marketing purposes.
If you leave a comment on my site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you don’t have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
I use Google Analytics, if you want to find out how they deal with data, check this out: https://policies.google.com/.
I also like to use RankMath for SEO performance. You can find out more about what they do with data here: https://rankmath.com/privacy-policy/
By default, WordPress doesn’t collect any analytics data.
Who do I share your data with?
By default, WordPress doesn’t share any personal data with anyone.
How long do I keep your data?
I keep contact form entries for six months, analytics records for a year, and customer purchase records for ten years. If you leave a comment, that comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights do you have over your data?
If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data that I’m obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where do I send your data?
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
How do I protect your data?
I don’t divulge your data to anyone unless otherwise stated above. I use a two-factor authentication option when you sign up to my blog and contact forms are directed to one private email address.
If you have any concerns about your data and how I use it, email me: email@example.com
