What personal data does The Sarky Type® store?
The Sarky Type® collects names and email addresses for email marketing. If you decide to subscribe to the blog, that information will be stored with the email marketing platform, Mailerlite.
FYI: By default, WordPress doesn’t collect personal data. It only collects data shown on the User Profile screen from registered users.
Comments
When you leave a comment, The Sarky Type® collects data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string. This helps spam detection. An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you’re using it.

Once your comment has been approved, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Contact forms
The Sarky Type® keeps contact form submissions for customer service purposes, but that information isn’t used for marketing purposes.

The Sarky Type® keeps contact form entries, analytics records and customer purchase records indefinitely. If you leave a comment, that comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This data allows The Sarky Type® to recognise and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights do you have over your data?
If you have left comments, you can request an exported file of the data, including any data you have provided to The Sarky Type®. You can also request to erase any personal data The Sarky Type® holds about you. This does not include data kept for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where does The Sarky Type® send your data?
Your data isn’t sent to any party, but visitor comments may be checked through the automated spam detection service, Akismet.
